LIV: ONE OF THE WORLD’S BEST NIGHTCLUBS IN MIAMI
For more than 70 years, Miami Beach has been a premier destination where the beautiful, the rich, and the famous come to play. The city is internationally known for attracting jetsetters who come for the white sandy beaches, the growing art scene, and the thriving nightlife.
At the heart of the city’s nightlife world is LIV, a massive 18,000 square foot club located in the iconic Fontainebleau Hotel and Resort. LIV has dominated Miami Beach nightlife culture since it first opened its doors in 2008.

Rolling Stone Magazine named it one of the best dance clubs in America; Nightclub & Bar Magazine placed it at number five in its annual Top 100 Best Clubs in the Country list for 2014; and Askmen.com gave it the number two spot as the best club in the world.

Celebrities like Leonardo Dicaprio, George Clooney, and Sean Penn have all been guests and they don’t scratch the surface of LIV’s long list of famous faces. Actors, musicians, politicians, and even royalty all go there. Prince Harry of England was spotted at the club earlier this year.
Among the world class DJ elite who have performed at LIV are Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Paul Oakenfold, and Tiesto.
Whether it’s the pulsating music, the flowing libations, or celebrity sightings, LIV has brilliantly created the perfect environment to inspire guests to splurge. The average cocktail at LIV is $20, but that doesn’t compare to the money some will spend for an ultimate night of indulgence.
It’s not uncommon for a LIV VIP to spend $100,000 in one evening. In 2011, Mark Cuban owner of the NBA Dallas Mavericks celebrated their championship win by ordering a $90,000 bottle of Champagne. Rapping sensation Jay-Z was reported to have spent $250,000 for bottles of champagne to celebrate the release of his album “Watch the Throne”. LIV is estimated to have made more than $35 Million in revenue in 2013.
Some would say that LIV’s massive success is rooted in history. Long before the venue was called LIV it was the world renowned Tropigala Lounge and it was once the epicenter of style, fame, and glamour. In the 50’s and 60’s it was the La Ronde Room which was graced with names like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Ann Miller, Elvis Presley and Tony Bennett. Historic as it is brilliant, LIV is on par to eclipse the fame and success of the original nightclub.
In 2008, the Fontainebleau completed a billion dollar renovation that celebrated the genius of the hotels original architect Morris Lapidus. Though the subject of outrage when it was created, Lapidus’ building is now an enduring architectural masterpiece and his brilliance was not ignored in the rebirth of the space that is now LIV.A team of international architects, designers and project managers infused the space with a modern and sophisticated style while paying homage to the globular architecture that assisted in putting the resort on the map.
The clubs multi-layered, nearly circular design allows for maximum movement from room to room and emerges from Lapidus’ daring designs that epitomized a concept of setting a stage where everyone who enters will play a part. The entrance has a long sweeping staircase that leads down the main dance floor and the front of the DJ booth.
The club can comfortably accommodate 1000 guests. There are three full service bars and six private sky boxes for guests that want to see but not be seen. The LED color mixing domed rooftop and more than 50 fixtures of intelligent lighting throughout, contributes to LIV’s reputation as being cream of the crop in the nightlife universe. In true Miami Beach fashion, the club is open from 10pm – 5am, Thursday through Sunday with different music formats on each night. Saturday is LIV’s biggest night and hundreds of people crowd the lobby each week hoping to get in. Those that are lucky enough to get past the velvet ropes are in for a spectacular night.
